Umoja V Conference
The Umoja Community will be holding a conference November 5-7, 2009. Tom deWit, our FIN Co-director, also serves as the Co-director of Umoja. Umoja is an amazing community that is commited to enriching and fostering the educational experience of all students especially African American students. FIN wants to inform you about this conference because it is one that individuals or teams could benefit from. Please share the information about this conference to anyone you think might be interested in attending.

As the Umoja Community claims its space on campuses across the
state, it does so “in community.” Acting in community, we will continue
to put a way into no way. Without permission or money we
come together again, vowing to help each other be bigger than ourselves.
Our survival, as a movement, depends on our continuing in
Indaba, looking deeper at ourselves so we know the difference
between the no ways of the system and the ways we need to serve
our students successfully. Join us “in community” at Umoja V.

The Faculty Inquiry Network’s (FIN) purpose is to support professional development which includes: conducting faculty inquiry; revisiting basic skills assumptions; interpreting and integrating data; accessing student voices; developing students as co-inquirers; making visible; using technology for teaching and learning; creating and supporting new initiatives, curriculum and program development; constructing educational tools using digital media; and hosting dialogue around student and faculty learning.
